Acqal donates to Give Us Wings
With the inception of Acqal Corporation the executive team decided that even given the tough economic times, and the challenges of starting a business in the midst, it was important for us to give back. We assign a percentage of our profits to quarterly charity donations.
In the first quarter of the year Acqal donated to a local charity near our Augusta, SC office – Le Chat Noir. You can read more about this donation through Virgil Huston’s blog.
In the second quarter of this year we decided to donate to a charity local to our Minneapolis, MN office. Making a charity selection was equally as difficult in the second quarter as in the first. There are many deserving charities in the area. Our choice for donation was Give Us Wings (www.giveuswings.org), based out of St. Paul, MN.
Even though this charity is based in Minnesota, they are doing phenomenal work globally by rebuilding villages and restoring hope in Kenya and Uganda. Give Us Wings is a nonprofit organization working at the grassroot level with adults and children in Kenya and Uganda. They support community development projects and the medical and educational needs of the poorest of the poor in forgotten villages.
The Give Us Wings Mission Statement
Give Us Wings works together with adults and children in Kenya and Uganda to eradicate poverty. Through person-to-person support, both financial and educational, people overcome poverty and become self-sufficient.
Acqal is ecstatic about the opportunity to donate to such a deserving charity. After meeting some of the staff and volunteers I am looking forward to getting involved in some of the charity’s local events as well. Coming up on September 26, 2009 there is an event titled “Walk For Water” – this is a family and pet friendly event located at Ford Dam Scenic Overlook Park. If you’re in the area, you can get more details here – and make sure you say hello to me and Roo (my dog).
